About the event

Last year, I was honored to be invited to host some riding groups. Since I’m not a certified backcountry guide, I chose to call these rides "Laid Back Ladies Rides" to set clear expectations. My goal is to support you, share my knowledge, help you find your comfort zones, and build your confidence. I’ll only take you to areas I’m confident in and ones you’re comfortable with.

Key Details:

  • Preparation: Please come equipped with avalanche gear. I’m also working on coordinating avalanche training for this year. Stay tuned.
  • Liability: By RSVPing and attending a ride, you acknowledge that you release me, Sierra Winter, and my business, Artwork by Sierra Winter, from all liabilities. You are responsible for your own safety, machinery, and gear.
  • Group Size: Each group will be limited to 5 riders (plus me). Smaller groups ensure safety, more shred time, and better practice opportunities.

Skill Levels:

  1. What Did I Get Myself Into? Novice riders who feel intimidated and unsure. If this describes you, don’t worry; I’ve been there too!
  2. I Can Hang But I Need Help: Riders who are comfortable with basics but want to improve. You’re at a crucial stage where further practice can elevate your skills.
  3. I Keep Up, But My Confidence Isn’t There: Riders who have the skills but struggle with self-confidence. Join us to build your mindset and enjoy the ride.
  4. You Can Teach: If you feel you have more to teach than to learn, let’s discuss how you can help guide some of these rides.

Potential Ride Locations:

  1. Petersville: Ideal for novices with flat terrain and features. The Forks Roadhouse offers a hot meal after riding.
  2. Seward: Known for challenging trails with coastal snow. Be prepared for tough conditions and bring shovels.
  3. Hatchers: Offers wooded terrain and rolling hills. We’ll ride less rocky areas, making it suitable for many skill levels later in the season.
  4. Cantwell: Features gullies, marshes, and some hill climbs. The dry, fluffy snow is excellent for honing various skills.

Next Steps:

  • RSVP: Let me know if you’re interested.
  • Fill Out the Form: Help me understand your riding level and preferences.
  • Pray for Snow: We might start riding as early as November!

I’m excited to get started and hope to see you on the snow soon!
